Postmaster Grade I Examination 2013 - Schedule announced

Directorate has announced the schedule for conducting Limited Departmental Competitive Examination for promotion to the cadre of Postmaster Grade I for the year 2013 vide letter no A-34012/4/2012-DE dated 23.04.2013. The date of Examination is 30.06.2013(Sunday). The last date for receipt of applications from willing officials at their controlling units is 03.05.2013.

PA / SA Examination for 2013....selection criteria

As per schedule declared by Directorate, PA/ SA examination for the year 2013 have already been  started in phase manner in each circle. The following criteria are likely to be followed for selection of candidate.

Qualifying Marks :

Category	% of marks required	Remarks
OC	40%  i.e. 10 marks in each part	40% in aggregate
OBC	38%  i.e. 9 marks in each part	38% in aggregate
SC/ST	33%  i.e. 8 marks in each part	33% in aggregate

Computer Test :

As per above qualification of marks, candidates will be called for computer test in 1:5 ratio

15 Minutes : For typing of 450 words passage

15 Minutes : For data entry work.

Dearness Allowance hiked by 8%

The Union Cabinet on Thursday approved a proposal to increase dearness allowance (DA) by 8 percent to 80 percent from existing 72 percent.

The move will benefit about 50 lakh employees and 30 lakh pensioners of the central government.

The hike would be effective from January 1, 2013 and the employees and pensioners would be entitled for arrears.

Decision on hiking DA was deferred on April 2 as the Finance Minister was not present.

The government had hiked DA to 72 percent in September last year, which had come into effect from July 1, 2012.

As per the practice, the DA is merged with basic pay when it breaches the 50 percent cap. This helps employees get higher allowances as those are paid as proportion of the basic pay.

2. Type gpedit.msc and hit enter

3. From Left Pane, Move to User Configuration > Administrative templates > Windows Component > Windows Explorer.

4. When you will select Windows Explorer, look for Removes the Folder Option menu item from the Tools menu in right panel

5. Double Click on it and Select EnableOption and Click on Apply than again Select Option Not Configure and Click on Apply and than Click on Ok.

Point of Sale/Despatch Shift end Error???

While day ending the Point of Sale or Despatch  some time it shows an error "A floating point exception occured in user process" and while existing  and it shows that shift end is over in Despatch/Point of sale . But  the Project arrow information were not created and the Account MIS shows the Day end was not done in point of sale.
While checking the error with CEPT Mysore and Googling   the results shows the this problem is solved when the Sql Server 2000 is upgraded to Latest Service pack (service pack 4)

Please down load the SQL SERVER 2000 SP4  (http://www.microsoft.com/en-in/download/details.aspx?id=18290)

Update the service pack. Then your problem is solved

Examination Centers of Direct Recruitment of Postal Assistant Exam

Examination for Direct Recruitment to Postal Assistant/Sorting Assistant is scheduled to be held on 21.04.2013 Sunday from 10 hrs to 12 hrs in the following five postal circles selected under 1^st phase. The Approved Outsourcing Agency  will conduct the  Examination.

The Examination for eligible Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS) to fill up the unfilled vacancies of LGO Examination 2010 will also be held on the same day.

 Candidates attended late beyond 15 minutes of the scheduled time will not be allowed  to take the examination.

Commemorative postage stamp released to mark centenary of Mumbai GPO

India Post today marked the centenary of Mumbai GPO building, wwiththe release of Commemorative Postage Stamp by Ms P. Gopinath, Secretary (Posts) and Chairperson, Postal Services Board, Government of India, at a function held in a precincts of the heritage building.   

As of the celebration, India Post has also orgnaised a philatelic exhibition on Mumbai at ground floor of the GPO.   

GPO, through the ages 

General Post Office, Mumbai was established in the year 1794 by the then Postmaster General for Bombay Presidency, Charles Elphinstone. Strategically located near the Chhatrapati Shivaji Railway Terminus and the Sea Port to allow quick transfer of mail from overseas and inland, this office has been serving the common man for over 200 years.   

MoneyGram Renews INDIAPOST Agreement

MoneyGram (MGI), a leading global money transfer company, today announced it successfully renewed its agreement with India Post, the largest postal network in the world.

MoneyGram launched the service with India Post in September 2011 at 100 India Post locations.  Since then, that number has grown to include 2,500 India Post locations offering MoneyGram's money transfer service.

RNet Version 2.1 (For CRCs and BPCs) Released on 09/04/2013

The RNet application which has been developed based on the earlier CRC Application has been released on 22.07.2011.  Subsequently, MNOP concept has been implemented for Registered Articles/Bags.  During the implementation of RNet application and MNOP concept, suggestions have been received from various CRCs/Divisions/R.O.s/Circles for enhancement of the options available in RNet application. The suggestions approved by Mails Division of the Directorate (which are mentioned in detail later in this document) have been incorporated in RNet application.

Further few suggestions have been received to optimize the usage of Despatch module for the purpose of BPCs and MBCs and these changes approved by Directorate are also incorporated in the Despatch module to be implemented in BPCs and MBCs.  Hence this release.

E K Bharath Bhushan is new Kerala Chief Secretary

The present Special Secretary and financial adviser to the Union Ministry of Steel, E.K.Bharath Bhushan will be appointed as the state's Chief Secretary. The decision was arrived at a cabinet meeting held on  Wednesday. 

Bharath Bhushan will succeed the present Chief Secretary of Kerala K.Jose Syriac, whose tenure in the post expires on April 30.  An IAS officer of 1979 batch, Bharath Bhushan will be able to continue in the post till January 31, 2015. 

As Director General of Civil Aviation, Bharath Bhushan had adopted several cleansing measures in the department as well as in the ministry; expelling pilots with fake license being one among them. 

PA/SA Direct Recruitmnet exam will be held on 21/04/2013--For A P, Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu

As notified by Postal Directorate Aptitude Test (Paper I) for Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu circles is scheduled on 21st April 2013. CMC has started to dispatch Admit Cards to all eligible candidates of these circle by ordinary post. In case candidate is not received the Admit Card by 11/4/2013, then he can download the same online from www.indiapost.gov.in using Direct Recruitment PA/SA Examination link from 12th April 2013 onwards. Candidate can also report discrepancy in Admit Card data from 12th April 2013 using the link GENERATE ADMIT CARD on the same web site.
